Your Band + Old Band's Songs = Yet Another Internet Project Album

So, eager young musician from the Evanspatch area, you say you have mighty chops, songwriting abilities granted you by acts of god and/or satan, frumious energy and a swift net connection? Yet there you sit in your lonely tower, languidly stroking your pet hyaena, wishing only that you could re-record the Songs of the Elder 80's bands?

So Be It...

(The form at the left will soon list songs available to cover, until then just enter whatever your wish is...)

Aging Hipsters! Feel the Dewy, Juicy Goodness of Youth!
Let younger musicians with whole futures to piss away cover your stale old tunes!

You worked your ass off on your band back when your knees didn't hurt. Now, years later you have gone through Four Phases of HadABandHood:
"We Were Gods! / We Were Shit! / Aw, Hell - At Least We Were Better Than Everclear / Man I Had a Good Time! Now I Won't Die Unfulfilled!"

Well now is your chance to let people know about your tunes and times. Donate your music! Donate your Zines/Flyers! Tell your stories! Stroke your ego!

If you haven't been around the scene for a while, E-Patch is going through another "good" period. 1123 1st Ave. is at the very least as fun as the Ross (though the patrons are impossibly young...) and the bands ROCK! I never grew out of beliveing that Evansville bands are cursed to be completely underrecognized in their own time.

To help alleviate this nonsense, I would like to help create an actual sense of musical history by preserving digital copies of the "good stuff" in a web archive and producing and selling a CD set, with orignial songs by 80's bands interspersed with covers of those songs by 10's bands: Plus a big fat WinstonSmith style collage poster of people, places and flyers spanning both decades. (christ, I sound like a Time/Life books ad...)

Any money raised from CD sales will go into hosting the site. (Hundreds of rock songs and giant images of posters is going to eat some bandwidth!) Any money earned beyond expenses will be tallied every December 31, and given to the local band (not nessecarily on the CD) receiving the most votes on the http://www.crackrabbit.com/vote website for purposes of recording or hyping an album. All accounting will be completely open! A spreadsheet in .csv format will be available from http:/ /www.crackrabbit.com/Ducats showing where the project is at financially. I will accept donations, but don't particularly encourage them.

Here's what to do:

1. Send an email to lysdexia@crackrabbit.com (Doug Shawhan), identifying your sorry self and your excellent band.

2. Either mail tapes/cd's flyers or Zines to Doug at:
22 Jefferson Av.
Evansville, IN 47713
attn: Shame of the 80's Project
or arrange for upload of same in digital format.

3. Write and submit a band bio or essay on the "Ross Days"

4. Stay away from the Prang.

Come on, you know you want to...
